Why Fencing?
As a sport, fencing is exciting and always evolving. There are always new aspects to learn, which gives you a pastime that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. Our coaches believe there are five major reasons to start learning the art of fencing.

Confidence
Fencing gives you the confidence to make decisions and test them under pressure, to apply new skills and tactics in different scenarios and to think on your feet.

Community
Fencing is an inclusive sport that prides itself on its friendly and diverse community. Life-long friendships are formed through training and competing together.

Mental Engagement
Fencing sharpens the mind, helping to develop focus and concentration that transfers into the classroom and work. As a highly tactical sport, fencing is intellectually engaging, making it a great sport for those who enjoy being challenged.

Fitness
Fencing is an intense, technical and explosively powerful sport. To maintain proper form and execution, fencers require strength, flexibility, and agility. Although elite fencing demands a high fitness level, it can be enjoyed at all levels and is an excellent way to stay fit.

Unique
Fencing is a unique sport that appeals to people who want something a little different from more ‘traditional’ sports. It is both an individual and team sport, and it never fails to spark people’s imagination and interest when you tell them you’re a fencer!
